That is the whole reason this bottle exists.

An animal under stress backs off feed long before he backs off water. Watch a pen after a haul, or through a hot stretch, or the week you wean. The feed sits. The waterer keeps going down.

So if you want to reach an animal who is already backing off, the water is where he still is.

When you want the water and not the drench

A drench is one animal, one dose, one set of hands. It is the right tool when a single animal has stopped cold.

But some situations are not one animal.

• You just brought home a load and the whole group is unsettled.
• It is hot, feed intake is down across the barn, and water intake is up.
• You are weaning, and the whole cut is out of sorts at once.
• You are at a show for four days with animals in a strange barn drinking strange water.

Drenching every one of those animals twice a day is not realistic. Putting the support where they are already going is.

Why it goes in the water, and where the name comes from

The Drench came first. I built that one for newborn calves, because a calf losing minerals to scours needs those minerals put back, and a calf in trouble is not going to eat anything you set in front of him.

That is where the name comes from. Rescue is getting it into an animal that has already quit. Restore is the minerals. Revive is the enzyme systems that run on those minerals coming back once they are there.

Then a whole bunch of pig guys started using it.

That told me something. They liked what it did, but a drench is one animal at a time and a pig operation does not work that way. What they already had was a proportioner and a water line running to every pen in the barn.

So I built them a version that goes through it.

Same job, different route. The Drench reaches the one animal that has already quit. This one reaches everybody who is still drinking, through the water line you already have.

What is in it, and what each part is doing

• Chelated trace minerals, including zinc, copper, and manganese, bound to amino acids. The reason for that form is absorption. These are low molecular weight, under 800 daltons, and absorption starts as soon as it hits the tongue, which on a water product means it begins with the first drink rather than waiting on the gut.
• Medium chain fatty acids for energy and gut support.
• Oregano oil, which works against the bad bugs that take over when a gut gets upset.
• Cinnamon oil, which helps tip the balance back toward the good ones.
• Natural plant extracts that support intake, which matters most in exactly the animal who has started backing off.

Guaranteed analysis: Zinc min 9,300 ppm. Copper min 1,800 ppm. Manganese min 3,300 ppm. Potassium min 1,950 ppm. Magnesium min 780 ppm.

Ingredients: Zinc amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, manganese amino acid chelate, potassium amino acid chelate, magnesium amino acid chelate, acetic acid, mono and diglycerides of edible fats or oils or edible fat forming acids, oregano oil, cinnamon oil, glycerin, polysorbate 80, and vegetable oil.

How to use it

Shake well before use. Every time, before you measure, so what you pour out is the same as what is in the bottle.

This is a concentrate, so it goes in as a stock solution first. Two steps.

Step one, make your stock solution. Add 14 ounces of concentrate to water to make one gallon of stock solution.

Step two, put the stock solution in the drinking water at 1 to 128. On a medicator that is the standard setting, so you are just confirming the dial.

No medicator? The label already did the math for you. One to 128 is simply one ounce of stock solution per gallon of drinking water. A five gallon bucket takes five ounces of stock solution. That is an easy measure with a cup, and it is why you make the stock solution first instead of trying to put the concentrate straight in the water.

One 32 ounce bottle makes a little over two gallons of stock solution, and at that rate it treats roughly 300 gallons of drinking water.

Species: cattle, swine, and goats.

WARNING: Contains added copper. Do not feed to sheep.

Sheep are far more sensitive to copper than cattle, pigs, or goats, and copper builds up in them. This product is not for your lambs. If you run lambs alongside market animals, keep this out of any water the sheep can reach.

When to use it, straight off the label: at weaning. When receiving livestock. When vaccinating. When treating sick animals. Anytime to combat stress.

In practice that means the load you just brought home, the cut you just weaned, a hot stretch, hauling, and show week. Start it before the stress if you can see the stress coming, and run it through.

Keep clean, fresh water in front of them either way. This goes in the water. It does not replace the water.

The honest part

Same fence as everything else we build, and I would rather say it out loud than have you find out later.

This is supportive care. It is not a treatment and it is not a cure. It supports intake, the gut, and trace mineral status through a stress window. It does not treat a disease, and it will not fix a management problem.

It is not a rehydration product. If an animal is genuinely dehydrated, that is a fluids problem, and fluids come from a proper electrolyte in the volume it takes, or from your vet.

An animal who has quit drinking too is past what this can do. That is the day you reach for the drench and the phone. If an animal is down, running a fever, or off both feed and water, call your veterinarian.

FAQ: Triple R Stock Solution Concentrate

Why would I use this instead of the drench?
Numbers and timing. The drench is one animal who has already quit. This is a whole group who is still drinking and headed into a stress stretch. If you are hauling a load home or weaning a cut, you are not drenching every head twice a day.

Can I use both?
Yes, and most barns do. Run the concentrate through the water for the group, and keep a drench on the shelf for the individual who quits anyway.

My barn does not have a water system. Can I still use it?
Yes, you just do the dilution yourself instead of letting a medicator do it. It works out to about a tenth of an ounce of concentrate per gallon of drinking water, so a five gallon bucket takes roughly 0.55 ounces, a little more than a tablespoon. Mix it into the water you are actually putting in front of them.

Honestly though, if you have three pigs and a hose, the Drench is probably the better fit for your barn. This bottle is built for somebody running water to a lot of animals at once.

Will it make them drink more?
It goes into water they are already drinking. If an animal has quit drinking altogether, this is not the tool, and that animal needs your veterinarian.

How long does a bottle last?
One bottle makes a little over two gallons of stock solution, and metered at 1 to 128 that covers roughly 300 gallons of drinking water. How long that lasts depends entirely on how much your animals drink, which changes with species, size, and weather. A few show pigs will make a bottle last a long stretch. A pen of cattle in August will go through it a lot faster.

Is this a treatment for anything?
No. It is supportive care through a stress window. It is not a treatment or a cure, and it does not replace a diagnosis.
