He was right on schedule in May. Then July got hold of him.

He went flat through his shape. He lost his freshness. He is standing in the shade at ten in the morning and he is not coming when you rattle the feeder, and every bit of the ground you took all spring is going back the other way.

And the part that eats at you is that you did not catch it. You thought he was being stubborn. You thought he was settling in. You told yourself he would come back on when it cooled off.

He did not.

What is actually happening

Heat shuts the appetite off first, and appetite is the part you cannot see

A hot pig backs off feed before anything about him looks wrong.

That is the order it happens in, and it is the whole problem. Intake goes first. The shape and the freshness go weeks later, because they are downstream of the eating. So by the time you can see it standing in front of you, the eating stopped a long time ago and you have been feeding a pig that was not really eating.

You cannot look at a pig and see the meals he did not finish.

There is no version of walking out to the barn in July where the loss is visible on the day it happens.

That is why this is bought in April and not in July. The heat is coming and you do not get to pick when, and the only version of this that works is the one that is already in him before it shows up.

The one tell you can actually see

Fifteen minutes at the feeder

You cannot see intake. You can see how long it takes him.

Feed still sitting in the feeder more than fifteen minutes after you put it there is the earliest honest signal you get. Not how he looks. Not the scale. How fast the feed disappears.

That check costs you nothing, you are already standing there at both feedings, and it will tell you something is wrong weeks before his shape does.

What is in it

Two jobs, and the second one is the reason this bag exists

One. Keep him eating.

Turbo runs the full TrueGlo gut base. PreVent Refined Functional Carbohydrates (PRFC), our patented immune modulator, US Patent 11,844,810, fed to more than twelve million head. Plus probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics, which are the live cultures, the food that feeds them, and the compounds they produce.

That is the machinery that holds gut flora together through a haul, a ration change, a new pen or a hot stretch, and it is what keeps a pig on feed when the week is trying to take him off it. Turbo then adds ingredients on top of that base to stimulate appetite and settle the stomach.

There is a third thing in that base worth naming. Glycerol monolaurate, which supports a healthy gut microbiome, helps hold down the inflammatory load a stressed pig is carrying, and supports immune function.

PreVent sharpens the immune response itself. Glycerol monolaurate works on the environment that response is happening in. Two different jobs in the same animal.

There is also glutamine, which comes from fermentation biomass. Glutamine is the fuel the cells lining the gut actually run on, and a gut under stress is a gut spending it faster than usual. That is exactly the stretch this bag is built for.

Fed consistently, he cleans it up and comes back looking for more.

Two. Take the heat load off him.

This is the part no other bag in the line does. Body temperature reduction technology, developed here and proprietary to us. It is not licensed and it is not somebody else’s premix.

It is not one additive either. It is three ingredients working in combination, and the combination is the part that is ours. That is why it is proprietary rather than patented. Anybody can buy the pieces. The formula is the thing.

A pig carrying less heat is a pig with less reason to back off the feeder in the first place.

The hair

This is not a second product bolted on. It falls out of the first one.

Body temperature reduction works by increasing blood flow to the skin. The hair follicle sits in that same blood supply. So the mechanism that pulls heat out of him is the mechanism that feeds the follicle, and you get thicker, more vibrant hair as a consequence of the cooling rather than as a separate additive.

On top of that, Turbo carries a blend of omega fatty acids, vitamins and minerals for skin hydration and hair growth, including zinc at 1,840 ppm and vitamin E at 30 IU per pound. Zinc and vitamin E are two of the things skin and hair are actually built out of, and there is a real amount of both in this bag.

What the people who do best actually do

Doc has watched this line get fed for a lot of years, and there is a pattern in who does well with it.

The most successful customers feed Turbo at the beginning and Turbo Shag at the end.

Not one or the other. Not Shag bought in a panic three weeks out. Turbo from the day the pig comes home, carrying him through the growing and through the heat, and then Shag inside the last stretch when the hair is what is left to gain.

One bag of Turbo runs about eighty days. Turbo Shag starts sixty days out from your target show. So one bag of each covers a project of about a hundred and forty days.

How to feed it

One 60 mL scoop per feeding

Top dress it right on the ration. Introduce it gradually over the first few days, then stay on the full rate. No measuring against his weight, no mixing, no separate step. The scoop is in the bag and one level scoop is the dose.

Feed it every day, all the way through

Both feedings, every day, from the day he comes home to the day you load him out. Not just when it gets hot. Not just when you notice something.

Everything in this bag works by holding a steady state, and a steady state is not something you can start on the day you need it. The heat does not send notice.

What that means for the bag

A 10 pound bag runs about 80 days for one pig. That is about $1.75 a head per day.

That is more than double what the base TrueGlo bag costs to run, and we would rather you knew that now than found it out in the middle of a season. You are paying for three jobs instead of one, and the temperature work is the one you cannot get anywhere else in the line.

Turbo is for exhibition swine. The other species in your barn are covered by TrueGlo, which runs across pigs, cattle, sheep and goats.
